Dedication to every horse, as if they were family

Experiences from the equine guardians

Shantel Glick

I am absolutely thrilled with the results of equine neuromuscular based dentistry (NBD) for my horse, and I cannot recommend Anna and this practice enough! I had tried nearly everything to help my horse, as I just knew something wasn't right. He was consistently having trouble flexing at the poll, and I could feel his discomfort under saddle. It was a constant struggle.

Then I found Anna. She thoroughly explained how my horse's jaw did NOT have the ability to move laterally and how his dental alignment was profoundly impacting his entire body and comfort. It was an eye-opening consultation. After just her first visit, I noticed a dramatic and incredible shift in my horse.

He is now flexing at the poll without any discomfort, and we are finally achieving left flexion without an argument - something that felt impossible before.

The difference is truly remarkable. I am so incredibly thankful for Anna and the transformative power of NBD. It has given me back the comfortable, willing partner I always knew my horse could be.

Courtney Cossette - H.E.A.L. Equine

Through gentle and holistic equine dentistry practices Anna corrected the dental health of my mare, Kaya, and drastically improved Kaya’s comfort while not only eating but in all areas of her life. While another mare, Zona, has dental anxiety due to past power tool treatments by equine dentists, Anna was extremely patient and attuned to Zona’s needs when assessing how to move forward with her care.

After numerous traditional farrier recommendations to euthanize my horse due to the condition of his feet, I knew I needed another option. Anna assisted my horse in gaining his comfort and livelihood back through hoof rehabilitation.

Over the course of a year she aided me with the knowledge and tools to improve my horses' nutrition, dental, and emotional health.

Not only was my horse's life saved, but now I have gained confidence that I am providing holistic and intentional care for all of the horses within my care.

Anna is committed to continuing to grow her skills to better the lives of the horses and horse caretakers she serves.

I am forever grateful for the work Anna provides and the resource she is.

I feel so lucky to have Anna on Bigby’s team! It was incredible to see Bigby getting his teeth done in a natural, relaxed position. Anna is so knowledgeable and shared so much amazing wisdom during our appointment - I even got to feel inside my own horse’s mouth! Not only did Bigby feel happier after our only our first session, I felt empowered with a new understanding of my best friend. I can’t wait to see her again and continue making positive progress!

Tamara Barrett - Oasis Equestrian Training

I had a wonderful experience with Anna from the Center for Neuromuscular Based Horse Dentistry. After many years of providing traditional dentistry for my horses, I have become increasingly more aware of the risks associated with power tools, as well as the impact of overfloating and “one size fits all” floats. I set out to find a different kind of practitioner, and I could not be happier with the results. My horse Dolly had better canter transitions than ever, which has been a big sticking point with her for a long time.

My horses were active participants in the experience while in a relaxed, natural stance. This allowed us to see the horse’s feedback and the results of her work in motion. Their heads were not hung up high, the speculum was never left open for long, and we had the opportunity to truly see and feel the differences between her work and the kind of equine dentistry I had been exposed to in the past.

Thank you, Anna, for a fantastic experience!

Dora Kariman

The way Anna worked with my horses was impressive. I was certain that neither would let her look into their mouths with the speculum as they both have some degree of mouth anxiety. Anna was calm and methodical as she went through the motions so that they could understand what she was doing. Before we knew it they were calm, aware, and actively cooperating.

Anna explained in detail about connections within the body,  restrictions, how to see them in their heads and body, and the neurological effect of restoring inclination. I also got to feel their mout before and after which was a great experience.

After we reviewed their feeding regime, and looked at their hooves which I trim myself, and Anna gave me some great advice on how to improve the quality of my trims and shared online resources. My horses, had a beautiful experience on top of being treated correctly. In the days after I saw my horses chewing better and no longer lifting their heads from their buckets dropping feed, and standing in a calm and comfortable manner.

Anna was just so kind and knowledgeable and I felt actively involved the whole time which is incredibly valuable to me as their care taker.

Highly Reccomend!

Holly Randle - Sometimes Life Is Hard Counseling

Anna has been an incredible teacher to our family since 2022. As someone who never grew up with horses I can say she has been incredibly kind and patient, helping our family learn what our horses need. She has helped our family when our mini had double pneumonia up to recent when he was diagnosed with Cushings and Laminitis. She has worked along side our Vet, whom she has been so encouraging of. We could not help our herd without her.

I cannot recommend her enough.

Our boys are doing really well after their dentals! Mika has filled out and the most amazing thing is that he has stopped coughing! He used to cough all the time, especially with short cut hay. Oh, and he is shiny even with his winter coat!  Ray is so mellow, and his crest is normal looking now, no IR bulge there. Also, his sheath is more normal looking too. Good changes with him too. I want to thank you for educating me on what to look for in horses that have had their teeth power floated. Thank you so much for taking care of our horses, we really appreciate you.

Amber Wagner

Anna worked with my horses and their individual comfort levels to achieve a cooperative dental experience. Two out of three horses did not even need me to dorm gel to collaborate with Anna on their dentals. As Anna evaluated their teeth each horse seemed to acknowledge and lean into each problem spot. It was really amazing to see each horse signal with their body language she had located a problem, lean in or pause for her to address the issue, then experience relief and comfort immediately. All three horses have been so calm and comfortable since their dental. One horse in particular has had enlarged temporalis muscles since the day he joined our herd. Not only have the muscles reduced in size but they are much softer and more supple. Previous traditional dentals with power floats didn't seem to provide him any comfort. He's finally finding the relief and relaxation he desperately needed.

Kevin Doyle - Alexis Holler

I can't say enough about how caring, knowledgeable and empathetic Anna has been towards our mares, and the proof is evident in how happy and healthy they are after every visit from her.

Our draft cross mare was having a lot of problems with her hooves including a bad abscess and pain walking .. One overzealous vet even callously recommended the worst solution which i won't give credence to here .. and after working with another farrier for many years he referred Anna and we became one of her regular clients. The results were immediately positive and anyone who knows horses can see their responses to being handled well and knowledgeably cared for .. these horses properly barefoot transitioned and loving it.

They have never been happier or healthier and anticipate being treated monthly to her exceptional care and attention. Us and our critters are extremely grateful.

Anna's help and guidance with the Trust Technique and beyond forever changed my relationship and path with my horse Lokahi (and, subsequently, with other animals and even people in my life).

What might have looked like an impressive show of horsemanship to some (with our liberty work and other common "natural horsemanship" moves) actually masked a struggling and suffering relationship--think biting and rearing, tears of defeat, fear for my safety and a lot more ugliness behind the scenes.

With Anna's guidance in 2019 I was able to reach a whole new plane of existence with my horse that I honestly didn't think I'd ever get to experience with him.

I will always remember Anna's kind patience as I hit my own personal snags along the journey of helping my horse. It was such a vulnerable time for me and through it all she held a non-judgemental space of support for me, just as I learned to do for my horses.

I'm forever grateful for Anna's teachings. They truly changed my life and my relationships with others.

Mary Ubach - Professional Barefoot Trimmer

Anna does a great job explaining the difference between this approach and standard approaches to equine dentistry. I have to say that watching the results was pretty amazing. Every single horse she worked on had previous damage from power floating. Neuromuscular  dentistry takes into account changes and imbalances in muscle and behavior. It was pretty interesting to watch her assess a horse from the outside and then find the exact problems she thought she would find regarding the teeth. In every case, there were dramatic changes in the ability of the horse to move its jaw and I'm going to say that every single owner was extremely thankful that their horses teeth seem to be working as intended finally. Myself included!

Mickey Hauber - Spanish Barb Conservatory and Rescue

After some disappointing experiences with equine dentists in the area, I had been searching for better horse dentistry options.  I had never heard of neuromuscular dentistry or whole horse dentistry and I was intrigued. Anna traveled to us to care for the teeth of my herd and it was a wonderful experience!

My horses got what they needed - nothing more nothing less. Anna explained the what and why of what she was doing, helping me understand the basis of her work. In the month after Anna left, all of the horses held their body condition and performed their work well.  This was a critical factor for me!

Thank you, Anna for taking care of my herd as if they were your own.   You are appreciated!!

Donna Frey

Anna has helped us with our horses in so many ways. She has gone above and beyond. Once we wanted to help a horse in need as the owner was struggling to provide adequate care. I sent Anna a photo of the horses' feet, and she promptly arrived to assist. Anna trimmed that horse's hooves in order that it could walk.

Its feet had probably been untouched for over a year. Not only does Anna trim our horses' hooves, and she does an amazing job, but she shares her vast knowledge on every aspect of horsekeeping. She never gives us unsolicited advice. Instead, she gives gentle suggestions to help us elevate the level of care for our horses. Anna is not motivated by ego, but by a sincere desire to promote the healthy well-being of horses. It is an honor to know Anna.

WOW! What a great experience I had today getting my horses teeth done.

No power float! No sedation (because my horses did so well, they didn't need it.)

This gal: Anna Gambarotto is fantastic. Really explained a lot of things about my horses and their teeth, jaw, the way it moves etc.

The first thing she checked was to see if they had TMJ pain.

Explained how power floats can be damaging to the teeth because of the vibration.

Said both my horses teeth were in GREAT shape for their age. My regular practitioner doesn't ever file down the front teeth, just uses the power drill on the back teeth. Samsons upper incisors teeth were corrected, as they were hindering the jaw from moving forward and backwards.

Anna has been one of the most influential people in the betterment of the lives of our horses and our donkey since she first came to us in 2021. The natural horsemanship we embraced 25-plus years ago cannot hold a candle to the grounded hoof care and approach to horses she practices. She never hesitates to interface with our vet to gain better knowledge and advice on trims for the advanced arthritic and endocrine disorders in our senior equines, and always makes time to share her observations and expectations on future outcomes. Her sharing of her knowledge concerning the entire health of an equine is always a welcome lesson, from teeth to feeding to learning to trust what our horses and donkey are trying to get across to us with their behavior.

Anna's demeanor is calm in an emotional storm, and she always leaves us with a sense of having learned more in the care of our animals, from toes to head. Most importantly, the love she derives from her work with equines, and the pride, joy and excitement she exhibits with a successful outcome for the animal is a testament to her ability as a whole horse practitioner.

Justine Martin

I want to share my great experience with Anna, and our horses. Educational, compassionate, and very professional. Not only the issues our horses were having have been resolved with ease and without the use of head slings, noisy tools, and fear, but Anna immediately noticed a tooth on our senior that needed attention, and referred us to see the vet for xrays.

Thanks to this intervention, we were able to promptly cure an issue that was previously missed by other dentists, and could have gone unnoticed for much longer, causing a great deal of pain and troubles. Anna was generous with her time and explanations, as well as patient and lovely with our horses, even the least compliant ones who had previously had unpleasant experiences.

All the horses are chewing better and moving better, with no more issues turning to either direction.

Very happy with the results.

Cindy Normandeau - High Desert Stables

Such a great afternoon with Diane’s horses Shone and Attie getting a dental makeover from the very talented Anna Gambarotto.

Anna is a recent graduate from Spencer LaFlure's Neuromuscular Based Equine Dentistry School. The research and care put into this methodology is inspiring.

The school is known for its innovative and science-based dental practices and she doesn't say so, but I bet Anna graduated at the head of her class. It's nice to know that like Dr Teskey, a dental no longer needs to mean some power tool work to smooth out the teeth.Though power tools aren't the only culprit in over-floating.

The NBD float will leave the mouth balanced, leaving the grinding surface horses need, with correct angles and articulation of the whole mouth. Like dr Teskey does, Anna does body work at the end to help them feel their new mouth, and through all an exchange with the horse to make this a positive experience. Shone was horribly skeptical but totally on board by the end! Diane kept repeating "what did you do with my horse?!!!" She was no longer defensive but rather a willing participant.

Attie, well, Attie was on board from the get go..especially for sheath cleaning, which is also included in the experience.

Thank you for letting me sit in!

Anyone looking for a greatly qualified dentist that can't make it when Dr Teskey is here, you won't be going wrong with Anna!

Laura Valdes

I absolutely love Anna! She has been so essential in the hoof recovery of my horse, Prince since 2022. Anna has the knowledge and patience necessary to give my horse, mustang, and donkeys the best care. She never traumatized them with twitches, ropes, or any other inhumane practice that other professionals often use. And she is also our trusted dentist!

The animals love and trust her. Thank you Anna!
